Why I Won’t Give Up Coffee

Through the years, we tend to develop habits that stick with us. Such habits become very important of our daily routine, where it reaches a point that you feel you can’t go through a day without it. It just seems as if you are incomplete whenever you are unable to do it or enjoy it, even if only for once during the day. Habits like that can almost be called an obsession, or even an addiction. Those terms are a bit extreme, I must admit, but those are the best words to describe the habits that simply stick with us and become so prominent in our lives. It is an essential of living properly and comfortably.
For me personally, the number one habit that I have is drinking coffee. In fact, nothing else comes close to it. I just can’t see myself enjoying anything more than I am enjoying my favorite drink. Each morning, I enjoy about two full cups with creamer, along with my toast and scrambled eggs. Now that is the kind of breakfast that gets my day going right, and I try to have that kind as much as possible. My coffee of choice is flavored espresso, even though I have tried most types of coffee over the years.
I also do not have any plans of giving up my coffee habit, for the simple reason that it has become so much a part of my life now. I don’t even mind the issues about coffee, such as does decaf coffee dehydrate you and does black coffee have calories
. What I do is just continue with my enjoyment of coffee each and everyday. Even my family has now taken after this habit of mine. My wife has become a coffee lover herself, whereas before she wasn’t really an avid drinker. Even our kids try it from time to time now.
Coffee’s Positive Effects

Hooked on coffee, hopelessly hooked is what I figure myself out to be. There is just no better way to describe myself, and I am perfectly fine with all of that. There is no way for me to help it, as I have been a very avid coffee drinker right from my childhood days. It is something that I did not try to change as I was growing up, and my parents did not discourage it as well so I just continued with it. If anyone might be wondering, I also drank milk and chocolate, but just not at the rate that I drank my coffee. Gradually, I drank less and less of those other beverages, while my coffee consumption increased even more.
I trace my days of drinking coffee from the days when I was merely starting out on my grade school days. My parents and older siblings actually encouraged it since they are all coffee lovers themselves. I started out with not so strong brews, and eventually worked my way to more flavorful blends as I was growing up. Today, my personal choice of coffee is espresso and with the variety of flavors that espresso has on the market today, I am having quite a great time with my favorite drink.
So right now I do not have any plans of changing my coffee drinking habits, much less stopping it entirely. I am in fact looking forward to many more years of it. And why wouldn’t I when it has nothing but positive effects for me. Whenever I feel a bit weak or lethargic, coffee quickly revives me and reenergizes me. It is also a constant companion when I work, especially when I do some of my work at home. You can expect that I am not at all bothered by questions about my habit, such as, does coffee age you and other similar queries that are related to the so called bad effects that my favorite drink has. In fact for my upcoming birthday celebration, I am thinking of giving coffee a prominent part among the many 25th birthday party ideas
that I have been coming up with.
Different Types of Coffee from around the World

There are really only two types of coffee species, despite the many ways the resulting beans are prepared: arabica and robusta. Arabica might have come from the fact that it was first widely cultivated in the Arab world; robusta from the scientific fact that it is the hardier variety.
These types of coffee beans are primarily cultivated in equatorial Latin America, South and Southeast Asia, and Africa. Arabica coffee beans are grown in high altitudes, while robusta is more of a lowland variety and highly resistant to pests.
Coffee was first regarded to have energizing effects in Ethiopia, and the earliest record of coffee drinking was found in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen, presumably as part of religious ceremonies. From there, coffee made its way to Italy and spread to the rest of Europe. Java coffee is most likely a descendant of the coffee beans that the Dutch brought to Indonesia. Americans got their first taste during the Colonial period. With coffee introduced to a broader spectrum of cultures and tastes, the various types of coffee beverages were born – espresso, cappuccino, americano, Irish coffee, to name a few. Coffee connoisseurs consider arabica more nuanced; robusta is stronger and more full-bodied.
The differences in flavor, aroma, body and acidity among various types of coffee are largely influenced by where they are grown (the lower the altitude, the stronger the taste), how they were processed (the darker the roast the stronger the flavor), and what genetic subspecies (varietals) they come from. Java, Colombian and Kona (Hawaii) are types of coffee varietals according to regions they are grown. “Kopi luwak” is a class of its own.
Across various coffee literature, the most highly regarded of all types of coffee – kopi luwak – comes from cat poop. These are actually coffee berries defecated by Asian palm civet who are notorious picky eaters of only the sweetest coffee cherries. The fact that it is a low-production variety, coupled with the hard-to-imitate flavor it imparts (thanks to the cats’ digestive enzymes), commands exorbitant prices. The price tag of $50 a cup is enough to make you sit up.
3 Benefits to Drinking Tea Regularly

In many parts of the world, drinking tea regularly is a normal part of life. In the Western world though – Britain and her cup of tea at noon, withstanding – we have been slow to catch on to this ancient trend. However, as we learn more about how good for us it is to drink tea, it becomes more available and adopted as part of our diet. Why?
For one reason, it’s a wonderful replacement to our current drinks. If you’re not drinking tea, you are probably drinking soda, which is full of empty calories, carbohydrates, and refined sugar. (And if you’re drinking diet soda, then you’re getting a large amount of overly processed fake sugars that possibly carry health risks.) Some people drink juices instead of soda, but again lots of these juices are loaded with sugar, seem are even carbonated. Then of course there’s always beer but I don’t need to get into why anyone shouldn’t be drinking beer on the regular!
The point is if you’re get in the habit of drinking tea, then you are far less likely to also carry the habit of drinking too much soda, fruit juices with little fruit juice, and maybe even beer.
Tea also carries with it many specific benefits to our health. Green tea has been widely studied for the antioxidant powers it contains and its ability to possibly assist in maintaining a healthy weight. Hibiscus tea and blood pressure is an area a lot of studies have looked at and there’s definitely a link to lowering blood pressure via this beautifully red, tart tea.
A third benefit of drinking tea is one I bet you’ve never thought of as it’s rarely mentioned by anyone promoting tea, perhaps because it implies something about the drinker:
it’s really cheap stuff.
Not the quality, mind you, but the price. Even if you buy the most expensive teas available, you’ll still spending maybe $8 for a box of 20 tea packs. Buy the normal tea and it’s more like $3. If you live in an area with international shops or an international district, then you can pick up boxes of green with 100 bags in them for $2 or $3.
Compare this with a jug of juice or a 12 pack of Coke and you can see you’re paying pennies on the dollar for your teas! If drinking tea became a habit, not only would you be better hydrated, healthy (remember that hibiscus tea lowers blood pressure!), thinner in the long run, but you’d also have some extra money. What other benefits do you need before trying out some teas you think you might like?
Buying In Bulk with My Coffee

I like to go buy the things that I need in bulk. That saves me a lot of time and trouble, so that I could still a lot of other things while already having the things that I need at hand. That certainly helps because I am quite a busy person. I run a little photo and printing business which really keeps me occupied most of the time. Thankfully, there’s plenty of work and the business is actually doing great. And the thing is, I actually don’t feel much pressure at all, even when there are loads of things that I need to accomplish when it comes to my work. That is simply because of the love that I have for my job. It started as a hobby, which then grew to become my family’s main source of income.
When it comes to my coffee, which is also how I buy my favorite drink. I purchase bulk coffee beans, and that works quite well for me, especially I can’t go through any day without having at least a couple of cups of my favorite espresso, which I love with plenty of creamer and some sugar in it. Right from the moment that I wake up each morning, it is what I look for and during days when I have so much to do that I couldn’t get a full breakfast, a cup of coffee would already do for me. And I can actually think more clearly when I have some coffee first, so whenever I have some important decision making at hand, I already have my brew in hand.
These past few nights, I am also relying on coffee to keep me up because I am thinking about my husband’s upcoming birthday. It helps me stay up and have a clear mind when thinking up ideas for the party. I also look things up on the Internet, searching for birthday ideas for husband, which is actually numerous online.
The Unusual Coffee Drinker

Unusual is the word that can best describe me in connection with my favorite hobby. That has something to do with my love for coffee, which I consider to be a hobby, however different that may seem to some. I am a very avid coffee drinker, and I have been one ever since I was a little kid. Being a kid back then, I wasn’t really discouraged because the rest of my family was pretty avid drinkers of coffee as well. In fact, it was even encouraged in the family, even among us kids at the time. So it just grew from there, and today I am as big a fan of coffee and perhaps even bigger.
Now about what I said about being unusual, that stems from the fact that I favor decaffeinated coffee now. Yes I prefer it over espresso and other richer coffee blends that are available out there. And you can bet that I have tasted most, if not all the coffee flavors and brands out there. Somehow, along the way I just found the taste of decaf to be much better than any other coffee flavor there is, at least that’s how I feel about it. You can be sure that I have heard a lot of jeers and kidding from my family because of my preference.
I don’t worry about anything that’s being said about decaf, I love its taste and that’s all that matters. Everything else that’s being mentioned about it, such as does decaf coffee dehydrate you doesn’t bother me at all. I mean there are sorts of things being said about not just decaf but coffee in general, like does black coffee have calories and things like that. I simply go on loving and enjoying my several cups of decaffeinated coffee every day.
When Coffee Tables Are Missed

If there is one thing that is sure to complete my day, then that is drinking coffee. Nothing else can do that, and I am actually feeling like that for as long as I can remember. Perhaps almost being raised on coffee does that to you. Even when I was a kid in grade school, I already loved to drink coffee; and my family did not discourage it at all. And my family would never do that; discourage anyone from drinking coffee, because we are a family that is simply head over heels in love with that drink. So in my case, it was the influence of my family that made me the avid coffee drinker that I am today. And it is also true that if I can’t get to drink even a single cup for a day, it is just not complete for me. I feel restless, and am actually quite cranky throughout the rest of the day.
What I am concerned about, right now when it comes to coffee has something to do with coffee tables. Yes, coffee tables indeed because we used to have this nice old oak coffee table that has been handed from generation to generation in our family. It was somehow lost during a fire in our old home a couple of years back, and it got burned down along with the rest of the house. So now my concern is to get a table that is somewhat similar to that, even if only in its design and not the material. If I could find an oak table that somewhat resembles it then it would be a whole lot better. The family’s coffee drinking experience would again be as special as it used to be when we were still using the table.
Whenever I want to read about coffee, the flavors that I would like to try and the coffee machines I would like to buy, I visit Coffee Sensei. It is all about coffee, so whenever coffee addicts want to know anything about their favorite drink, they make sure that go to http://coffeesensei.com/.
