3 Benefits to Drinking Tea Regularly
In many parts of the world, drinking tea regularly is a normal part of life. In the Western world though – Britain and her cup of tea at noon, withstanding – we have been slow to catch on to this ancient trend. However, as we learn more about how good for us it is to drink tea, it becomes more available and adopted as part of our diet. Why?
For one reason, it’s a wonderful replacement to our current drinks. If you’re not drinking tea, you are probably drinking soda, which is full of empty calories, carbohydrates, and refined sugar. (And if you’re drinking diet soda, then you’re getting a large amount of overly processed fake sugars that possibly carry health risks.) Some people drink juices instead of soda, but again lots of these juices are loaded with sugar, seem are even carbonated. Then of course there’s always beer but I don’t need to get into why anyone shouldn’t be drinking beer on the regular!
The point is if you’re get in the habit of drinking tea, then you are far less likely to also carry the habit of drinking too much soda, fruit juices with little fruit juice, and maybe even beer.
Tea also carries with it many specific benefits to our health. Green tea has been widely studied for the antioxidant powers it contains and its ability to possibly assist in maintaining a healthy weight. Hibiscus tea and blood pressure is an area a lot of studies have looked at and there’s definitely a link to lowering blood pressure via this beautifully red, tart tea.
A third benefit of drinking tea is one I bet you’ve never thought of as it’s rarely mentioned by anyone promoting tea, perhaps because it implies something about the drinker:
it’s really cheap stuff.
Not the quality, mind you, but the price. Even if you buy the most expensive teas available, you’ll still spending maybe $8 for a box of 20 tea packs. Buy the normal tea and it’s more like $3. If you live in an area with international shops or an international district, then you can pick up boxes of green with 100 bags in them for $2 or $3.
Compare this with a jug of juice or a 12 pack of Coke and you can see you’re paying pennies on the dollar for your teas! If drinking tea became a habit, not only would you be better hydrated, healthy (remember that hibiscus tea lowers blood pressure!), thinner in the long run, but you’d also have some extra money. What other benefits do you need before trying out some teas you think you might like?
